EVOC Track
One Hancock Drive
About this facility
Description
One mile loop, with a city grid that includes actual scale sized city streets. This allows the trainees to navigate the high speed driving track and immediately move into a city street environment with cross traffic. There is a cut-off road that goes over railroad tracks. The “S” turns are designed to challenge the driver in changes of weight shift in the vehicle at increased speed. The facility also houses a skid pad (for separate rental price) that will allow for training on surfaces replicating loss of traction. This teaches officers what to do when they lose traction due to the elements. By applying water to the surface of the pad, it provides a situation that is similar to a roadway covered by ice or a heavy rain. Personnel learn how to maneuver vehicles that have lost traction and receive hands-on experience with vehicles similar to those they will be driving.

City Grid
The driving area has been built with a closed loop, 1.3 mile, high-speed track that will support vehicle speeds up to 100 mph. This is one of the few facilities in the state that supports high speed driving. Another critical component is the availability of a city grid that replicates residential neighborhoods and city blocks. Construction was completed on April 2016, expanding the city grid roadways within the interior of the EVOC track.
Collision Avoidance
POST required collision avoidance exercise area that is required for all law enforcement academy trainees.
