About this facility

Description

The Skid Pan is a 200-foot by 200-foot square of smooth finish concrete. It is used to teach the importance of defensive driving principles and techniques in order to develop safe driving habits and recognizing that emergency response (Code 3) driving demands a high level of concentration and instant reactions. It is used to instruct the recognition of the risk to officer/public safety versus the need to pursue/apprehend, along with the understanding of emergency vehicle dynamics. There is also an additional charge for water used, with a $50 minimum.
