General Policies
48-Hour Submission Requirement
All music, audio content, and projection files to be used during the rental must be submitted to the facility coordinator no later than 48 hours before the event begins. Materials submitted after this deadline may not be available for use during the event. SMUSD is not responsible for technical difficulties arising from late submissions.
Facility Walkthrough
A facility walkthrough with a designated SMUSD technical staff member is required for all Rehearsal/Dress Rehearsal/Performance rentals, must be scheduled in advance through the VAPA office and must be completed before the first rental date. Renters new to the facility are especially encouraged to schedule the walkthrough well ahead of their event series.
Lighting at Lecture / Presentation Events
Lighting at the Lecture / Presentation level is available in pre-programmed fixed presets designed for presentations, lectures, and general use. No adjustments, variations, or custom programming are available at this event type. Productions requiring custom lighting states must book at the Rehearsal level or above.
Show Build
Any rental requesting QLAB programming/custom lighting states via the ETC Lighting Console/custom audio configuration will incur a show build fee. Show build sessions are scheduled separately from rental dates and must be completed prior to the Dress Rehearsal. Show build fees begin at $50 for the first hour; additional hours are billed at the rate defined in the fee schedule. Changes to show build elements after completion may incur additional fees.
Microphones
The two included microphones are Sennheiser wireless units. Additional microphones from the inventory list are available as add-ons and require an Audio Engineer for multi-mic setups. Renters may not supply their own wireless microphone systems without prior written approval from the facility coordinator, as frequency conflicts with house systems may occur.
Piano
The piano is available at all event types but must be requested in advance. Tuning is the responsibility of the renter and must be coordinated with the facility coordinator prior to the rental date. SMUSD staff will not tune the instrument as part of any rental.
Add-On Requests
All equipment and personnel add-ons must be requested at the time of booking. Last-minute requests are subject to availability and may not be accommodated.
Campus Applicability
These guidelines apply equally to San Marcos High School and Mission Hills High School. Both campuses maintain equivalent equipment inventories and staffing capacity.
Pricing
All rental rates, add-on fees, personnel rates, show build fees, and additional space costs are governed by the SMUSD Theater Facility Rental Fee Schedule.
